Ladies and gentleman, the time has once again returned for another HEAVEN experience. As always we stay at the forefront of the party scene. This event we plan to pay tribute to the city that has been home to many of us from day one. Yes we are paying tribute to Atlanta Ga,USA.
Next friday we are doing it for the home team, all zones, all hoods, points inside the permiter(and even the burbs). What city in the south can compare to Atlantas night life, none. This night is for all my Grady baby's,its for all my people who grew up in Atlanta and didn't just relocate hear. Well I'm lying, this party is for you all too. It's a night where we celebrate the sounds of Kilo,Dj Kizzy Rock,Dj Smurf,Playa Poncho,Usher, TLC,Ciara,Keri Hilson,Jermaine Dupri,Xscape,Jim Crow,Lil Jon,Bone Crusher,Pastor Troy. I can go on for days, but I'm sure you all get the picture.

Having already received a closer look into the FLOM Dunk Hi earlier today, Nike unveils a second sneaker from their upcoming LIVESTRONG Greatest Hits Collection. This time around, the famed sportswear company utilizes Mr. Cartoon’s original Los Angeles Air Force 1, re-working the kicks in a traditional LIVESTRONG color scheme. Definitely one of the most sought after pair of Air Force 1’s of all time, this new release will give some of Cartoon’s fans and sneaker heads alike another shot at the laser etched sneakers, in an updated yet equally impressive colorway.
A preview of what’s to come for Casio G-Shock in the month of June presents some marquee watches in the form of the “Love the Earth and the Sea” collection. Within the small capsule are two of G-Shock’s higher-end models, the Frogman (green) and the Gulfman (yellow/black). Created as part of an awareness program titled “Love the Earth and the Sea” for the sustainable and eco-friendly use of the world’s oceans, each color was chosen based on aquatic sea life in various facets. Available next month at select G-Shock dealers.
Regardless of the legal drama, snitching rumors or whatever...one of the greatest rappers in any hood will be missed by me and the rest of the A town. Thanks KB for shooting this!
West Up Bloggers,
This week we gona take it to the NorCal or Bay Area. Rappin' 4-Tay is
rapper from the Fillmore District of San Francisco, California. 4-Tay
made his debut on the Too Short album Life Is...Too Short, right after
high school. Later he was convicted on drug charges and served ten
months in prison When released from prison he released his debut album
Rappin' 4-Tay Is Back in 1991, and followed up in 1994 with Don't
Fight the Feelin', which included the hits "Playaz Club", the "Dank
Season"d "I'll Be Around". Rappin' 4-Tay's mainstream success has been
scarce since then, but he was featured in 2Pac's All Eyez on Me album
on the track "Only God Can Judge Me" in 1996 and Master P's West Coast
Bad Boyz II compilation in 1997. 4-Tay was also an original member of
Bay Area supergroup T.W.D.Y. in 1999. This song I'll Be Around was a
classic West Coast record from the 90's which sampled the Spinners
"I'll be Around'.
Rappin 4-Tay- I'll Be Around
What's the word my good peoples. Hope you all had a wonderful memorial day weekend. Mine was spent on the road with Keri Hilson. We hit 3 cities in as many days(Greensboro,Atlantic City,New York City).
While I was in New York I made it my job to listen to both radio stations(Power 105 and Hot 97). Both stations were featuring a memorial day megamix, and I can't lie both stations were killing it. Sometimes when I come to NY and listen to the radio I get dissapointed, but not this trip. Every dj on every station was going in. I loved the diversity on air, they went from the hoodest of the hood records to the Pussy Cat Dolls. How come Atlanta radio can't be that diverse, especially on big mixshow weekends.
Now for the mixtape side of things. Some dj's may not have the name of a Kid Capri or Clue, but they still may end up being one of your favorites. That title fits when it comes to describing my man DJ SPINNA. Repping Brooklyn to the fullest,SPINNA is no stranger to the game. He's been killing the house remix side for a minute, now he dropped a timeless best of Sade mixtape. As always, download now and thank me later.
We have been dropping little hints about our next Heaven event. We have been slowly letting the cat out of the bag,but now its time to go full steam ahead. Friday June 5,THE HEAVENLY RENAISSANCE CREW PRESENTS...Forever I Love Atlanta(F.I.L.A.). That's right ya'll, we are doing it for the home team. We are doing it for the city we all come to know as home. We are doing this one for all my Grady Babies, all my Atliens.
Musically Atlanta has contributed so much to the game. From Cameo to Outkast, from Joy to Jeezy. From Ludachris to Left eye, from Usher to Gucci Mane. Yup,next friday we are going all the way in. Expect more details and more excitement from the crew you all love. But most importantly I expect to see you all at "THE HEAVENLY RENAISSANCE PRESENTS...FOREVER I LOVE ATLANTA". Next friday, june 5 at 595 North Lounge
I put the DJ in front of Roddy Rod for reason,it kind of signifies how long ive known him. Damn near 20 years, now that i think about it. Coming from Springfield,Mass. it feels good to see one of your peoples make it. especially one who has been down since day one. This is a rerelease from his lp "Cuba After Market", a downtempo musical master piece. Do yourself a favor and do the knowledge to it.
Keeping inline with the MX iD Air Force 1 we saw some days back, Nike Sportswear unveil the second pair from the “All Grey” pack, in the form of their classic Air Max 95. The kicks feature the same tonal grey premium motif as the AF1, with a nice medley of materials including mesh and suede uppers. An extremely limited release is scheduled for tomorrow, May 23rd, exclusively through 21 Mercer Street in NYC.
In my eyes, the greatest inspiration to the black male community. One of the best minds known to the black race. We need another one just like this,GOD BLESS his soul and memory.
This dude talks more shit than a little bit. watch the clib and see what im saying..."i got more cars than you have friends". Wow.Kanye has nothing on this dude!
Here is the performance that has everyone up in arms. I hear both arguements, but i think i am going to side with Questlove on this. In my opinion, the purpose of the live performance is to give the audience something extra. If you perform the record at the same pace that it sounds on the radio, then what makes the performance so special. I feel like you should put some spice on your stage show.
For all my Atliens, for all my Grady babies, for all my people who call Atlanta Georgia home...this night is for you. Details are soon to follow,June 5th is a night you wont soon forget.
The highly anticipated Air Jordan 5 “Toro Bravo” aka Raging Bull Pack is set to release on Saturday May 30th at select Jordan accounts worldwide. With the release date just around the corner, we get a closer look into the set, inspired by the Running of the Bulls event in Pamplona, Spain. The kicks will be accompanied by a highly detailed crate themed box featuring the eyes of a bull peering through.
Yup,this segment is back. This time i brought my homie THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR. Back from the 89 era...lets go people!
A less often seen model from New Balance as they drop the M579. Take cues from some of its brethren, the shoe’s multi-colorway upper may be a bit much for traditional NB enthusiasts while the purple/turquoise version rounds things out as a more palatable style relative to the boldly stated yellow mock-up. The Japanese-exclusive M579J is available now at ripe.
The Genius, aka the GZA, was the most cerebral MC in the Wu-Tang Clan, as well as perhaps the most acclaimed. His cool, precise flow and intricate, literate rhymes weren't as theatrical as Method Man or Ol' Dirty Bastard, the two biggest commercial stars to spring from the collective. But among hip-hop aficionados, the Genius was revered for his flawless technique and lyrical dexterity, and was considered by many to be the best pure rapper in the entire Clan. Produced mostly by Easy Mo Bee, the album flopped badly and, creatively, did little to hint at the Genius' future standing. Conflicts with the label sent the Genius packing, and he reteamed with a similarly disenchanted RZA (fresh off a failed stint with Tommy Boy) and Ol' Dirty Bastard to co-found the Wu-Tang Clan. Adding six other friends and associates, the group became an underground sensation and took the rap world by storm with its 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) Their innovative contract allowed each member to sign a solo deal with whatever label they chose, and the Genius wound up on Geffen. In 1994, his first post-Wu solo track, "I Gotcha Back," appeared on the soundtrack of the film Fresh. His second solo album, Liquid Swords, followed in 1995 and was hailed as a hip-hop classic thanks to its coolly understated menace.
Two pillars in the club community,KB and Jazzy Jeff. A self proclaimed Life Style Specialists...my man KB. Peep the footage and enjoy
Im going to give you all a little DJ MARS history. Back in the early portion of the 2000's i had a record deal on the table. I was negotiating with Arista records, thanks to my man SHAKIR STEWART(GOD BLESS HIS SPIRIT). One of the records i recorded during this period was LAY IT DOWN 2002,featuring THE ATLANTA BRAVES(LIL JON,BABY D,PASTOR TROY,AND THE YOUNGBLOODS). Heres a copy of the record, download and enjoy. Download link is below.
If you dj's arent up on DJ ROB DINERO'S remixes then you need to turn in your turntables and sell your Serato. You can do an entire set with his joints. Here's a treat, trust theres more to come. Download link is below.
West Up Bloggers!!!!
After spending a weekend back home on the West Coast, man do I miss
it!!!!! LA has changed but in some ways is still the same. The West
Coast Radio still rocks and supports its artists from Snoop, DJ Quik,
E-40, Dr Dre and of course 2pac. This week I wanted to play a 2pac
collabo w/ another top 10 rapper of all time- Scarface. The music
video released in 1997, after 2pacs death, the fact that he appears in
this video is one of the causes for the many 2pac conspiracy theories.
Also featured on the song is Johhny P, who was known to sing on great
tracks with Do or Die, Twista and others. But beside all of that, this
was a great song with 2pac being the poet, and Scarface being the
storyteller. One of my favorite collabos between the West and South.
I kinda feel Joe on this one,i understand but recognize the opinions of some of these bloggers. If they werent getting a paycheck, would they be this interested in hip hop...um i doubt it. Oh yeah,Joey will be in the book. The interview is already done.
With legendary record label Def Jam celebrating the quarter century mark later this year, adidas Originals are teaming up with the New York based label who has housed many of hip-hop’s finest acts to create a pretty strong collection of footwear and apparel. The in-line releases feature the obvious in the Superstar alongside familiar basketball highlights like the Forum Mid. However some other styles are also thrown into the mix like our favorite the Nizza as well as the Samba. Going further in-depth are artist collabos with Redman, Method Man, Young Jeezy and Ghostface Killah. The collection is slated for a 09-10 fall/winter release.
Last weeks e blast listed a few things I felt was wrong with Atlanta's nightlife. Well this week I'm going to do a list 5, of what I consider to have been the, top clubs in the city. I know some of you are going to argue my point,I hope you do. But for now, read on.
My list is in no particular order by the way:
1-Club Fritz//559(Ashby st):: One of the gulliest clubs on the planet, but if you were from any hood in the A you had to be there. Historically it was the first club I ever spun in,I only spun there twice. But Dj Jelly and them had that place on fire.
2-The Warehouse//Pheonix:: You could put there friday night up against any hip hop party, any where in the country. One of the best venues for a real hip hop show. Everyone performed there(A Tribe Called Quest,BIG,Craig Mack,Luke,Blackmoon,Lost Boyz,Kid Capri,Ron G). I was a spectator back then,I couldn't compete with Lil Jon,Searcy,Dose,Sol Messiah,Shakim, none of them.
3-Soho:: From fall of 94-95(Spring),this club was the shit on Thursday nights. I feel like this club started the hip hop ballin that goes on now. Everyone partied there, and partied hard. Favorite memory was the night of the Brat's "Give it to you" video afterparty. Everyone who was in the video was at the party...oh yeah, and I had Mary dancing on the tables.
4-Atlanta Live:: This club made everyone feel like a star, for real. Trauma and DC used to spin there on saturday nights,it was a problem. The baddest chicks in the south used to party there,no joke. Live performances by Prince,Heavy D,Nas,Foxy Brown, you name it they partied there. And the women, omg!
5-Kaya//Chilli Pepper:: I can't disrespect any of these places, they are the last true hip hop clubs that Atlanta has seen. Let's start with the Chilli Pepper, every Tuesday night it was popping. Real dj's,real party people and a whole lot of fun. It was the spot where Kid Capri came to party when he was intown,I know cuz I was dj'ing when he walked in the club. It was the spot that made Nas give an impromptu performance. I know because I was on the wheels. Thanks to the Midnight Marauders crew.
Now Kaya was a whole 'nother animal. The best dj line up I have ever seen in my life. Oh,you wanna argue? Put a team together that actually was on the same bill each and every sunday...DJ NABS,KEMIT,DOC,JAY CEE, and me...DJ MARS. Excuse my language, but who is fucking with that...um,ill wait til you try and figure it out...NOONE STUPID! Hip hop partying at its best, remember we had Jay Z,Run Dmc,Whodini,Dmx,Ja Rule, Jazzy Jeff, and that's just who I remember.
If the list went to 10 clubs I would add the following::
The original Velvets
We got a lot of history hear folks, stay with me. And now for the mixtape portion of the e blast. How many of you all know the name of EPMD'S first dj. Take a second to think...um,for you so called hip hip heads its DJ K-LA BOSS. How many of you know the name of Lil Waynes dj...um think hard now,its DJ 4-5. How many of you know that's the same person...I'm sure none of you. Do your homework. My man 4-5 aka DJ K-LA BOSS aka I've been the # 1 tour dj on the planet since 1987 is still smashing em and still releavant in this world we call hip hop. I know because I've been on several tours with him.
Every tour he's one he come through with a batch of flavorful mixtapes. Today I dug up one of my favorites..."THE MAKINGS OF YOU...THE BEST OF PETE ROCK AND CL SMOOTH". Nothing but pure mc'ing and dj'ing right here yall. If you've forgotten PR and CL's contribution to hip hop, well here you go. As I always say, download now and thank me later.
In a limited range of footwear reserved for adidas’ top “O-Store” retailers and a shoe made popular in recent memory thanks to Jeremy Scott’s touch, the O-Store exclusive Arteillry has recently dropped. The former basketball shoe is without a doubt a high-form of the truest example with a chunky profile. The shoe’s earthy tones are seen over various shades of brown and canvas with pops of green. Among the selected O-Store retailers are styles.

Ive said this 1000 times, one of the best dj's on New York radio...PERIOD. He's clean and precise with his. No fancy shit that doesnt make sense.real dj'ing...one love Camillo
One of the main outlets in Atlanta for mixtapes. Hassan has been smashing them for years. You didnt sell in the south unless you sold thru here.
Another collabo by two of my favorite brands. An all original music project dropping soon, thanks to the homie Omar Johnson.
