CHACE INFINITE//FIGHT THE POWER FITTED
Previously bringing you the inaugural ELMCOMPANY Designer Music: Summertime fitted cap based on the works of The Fresh Prince Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Chace Infinite steps up to plate once again and revisits a fresh new Hip-Hop inspired theme with this upcoming ELMCOMPANY fitted drop. Based on the 1989 cult-classic Fight the Power by Public Enemy, Chace Infinite looks to capture much of the societal tension ravaging America at the time which included the Yusef Hawkins case. Taking notes from the issues so thoroughly addressed by PE, the hat also goes on to capture some of the essence from another classic, the Spike Lee directed “Do the Right Thing” movie. FUNK MASTER FLEX X FOXY BROWN
What's good yall,I'm back in the building again. Thanks to hard working clients and the lords blessing,I can say its been a busy 09' so far. Shout out to all the followers of the blogsite as well as newcomers. For those who are new to the site,www.historyofmixtapes.com,ill explain it clearly. The site was built as an effort to educate you all on the history of the mixtape game. In addition promote the new book that I am writing"FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY...THE HISTORY OF MIXTAPES."
During my research a few facts were proven to me. One being that the game has many levels, there are several different chapters in the history of the mixtape phenomonon.
The hip hop dj actually wasn't the first to make an actual tape. The credit has to be given to the disco dj,he actually did it first. At the time that the disco dj was rocking hip hop wasn't even born yet. Todays blast digs deeper into the different levels of the mixtape movement. To further explain it all I posted 2 tapes(FUNKMASTER FLEX LIVE ON HOT 97 and FOXY BROWN PLATINUM PARTY).
Red Alert is probably the most recorded and dubbed radio dj in the history of radio, that's undeniable. But in the 90's Flex was coming in on a close second. Every kid from the AUC who went home for any type of vacation, made it his or her business to tape FUNK FLEX on HOT 97. Dubbed copies of radio shows were actually as coveted as your favorite mixtape. Especially for the kids in the tri-state area. Once again Flex goes in on some 90's shit, during the 90's.
Part 2 of this double disc dub is FOXY BROWNS PLATINUM PARTY@ATLANTA LIVE(circa 1997). On the wheels of course its me,DJ TRAUMA, and J NICE. At the end of her set NAS comes out on stage and rips through a few FIRM joints. Yeah yall,a classic party at one of Atlantas classic night clubs. If you listen closely, the party is hosted by CHAKA ZULU(DTP). Peep the tape and enjoy. Do remember to click on the link below
ALLSTAR WEEKEND DJ RECAP
Ok,so I'm super slow on the recap. What can I say,the boy has been dumb busy. Nonetheless, here's a brief photo recap of the weekend. Instead of posting pictures of me and rappers//athletes, I'd rather post flix of me and my fellow dj's. I dubbed that weekend "LAND OF 1,000 DJ'S". Its dope that some of my peoples get to come out in rock during these weekends. Doors are being opened and moves are being made. Its mad inspirational to see so many dj's out there rocking. One love to everyone I ran into out there. I love to see the dj movement continue to move.

WHAT I LIKE TO DRIVE::MERCEDES-BENZ G500 EDITION30
Celebrating 30 years of hand building the Austrian G-Wagen, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled an anniversary vehicle with the very same design principles and a few extra goodies. Entitled the EDITION30, two versions have made production including a higher and lower end model. The EDITION30 will be a G-Class based on the W463-chassis G500 featuring unique leather, wood interior and Platinum Black paint job. The lower end EDITION30.PUR will feature a more rugged exterior based on the older W461 chassis with G280 CDI running gear, off-road tires, headlamp guards, flexible wheel arches and optional roof rack. For those who know me you all know how i ride. I am so glad they didnt screw up this classic.

WEST COAST WEDNESDAYS
Morning Bloggers,
Back for another West Coast Wednesday!!!!
I thought I take it back to one of the top groups in the 90's..... THA
DOGG POUND!!! They had 2 great rappers..... Daz and Kurupt. Daz always
had the west coast gangsta mentality, and Kurupt had spits and lyrics
for days. He is sleep on as one of the top spitters in the game. They
were on the one of the hottest label.... Death Row which had Dre,
Snoop , and 2pac. They had hits like New York, New York; What Would U
Do. So here is there first single 'Let's Play House"
ITS THE KIIIIIIIIIIIID CAPRI
What's good world, another week and another blessing. Before we go any further I must give a huge rest in peace shout to my man Marc the Barber, aka Marc Smooth. Good people we lost another one right here. Not sure of all the details but what I am sure of is that my mans will be missed...one love miggidy!
One a happier note,I just finished an interview with my man Joe Buddens. Without question,Joe is one of the best mc's the world has to offer. Ontop of all that his interview was one of the most intelligent interviews I've had so far. The book is shaping up real well, this will probably be one of the proudest moment of my entire dj career.
Well since its monday you already know its time for another classic download. This week I had to take it back to my all time favorite mixtapes " Kid Capri Old School part 2". I can honestly say I learned how to rock parties based on this tape. Having dropped in 1991,this was probably his most memorable tape to date. I've heard a million old school tapes, but none of them sounded like this. OS pt.2 had all the elements(mic game, skills, and dope records). After properly studying this tape you could put together a dope old school set, that's if you studied. I owe a portion of my career to this tape, real talk. Do yourself a favor and do the knowledge to the greatest dj in the world....KIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDD CAPRI!

THINGS I LIKE ON MY FEET::THE ADIDAS CONSORTIUM EDITION
Taking the Torsion runner classicism of the ZX 7020, with its feminine it and unsurpassed late ’80s design elements, this Consortium interpretation of the shoe gives it a totally distinctive look via a patterned upper that’s completely unique. With disorientating touches of dazzle camo, the upper even evokes black and white op art, with each panel providing stripes that interrupt and intersect with each other. In leather, canvas and nylon, this eye catching balance of running shoe classicism and total abstraction is finished with a blue metal eyelet.

DJ DRAMA::PRE GANGSTA GRILLZ
Since we've been on the New York side of the mixtape game,I think its about time we take a trip down south. No southern dj has pushed the mixtape movement past the limits that Drama has. Tabloid headlines aside dude did more than just make headlines. Drama made the mixtape a viable method in which a southern artist can get global exposure. It would be easy for me to post one of the many Gangsta Grillz you probably own. I keep tellin you suckas that this is about "The History Of". So what I did was dig in the crates a little something. I found a classic, get you're ipods ready for this one yall. Here's the promotional mixtape for my annual DJ MARS birthday celebration. I'm not going to get into the playlist, you have to listen to the mixtape for that. Just know that I dropped a gem on you all. Oh yeah, this tape will be covered in the book to. Love me later, DOWNLOAD NOW
DIDDY BLOG
Now i'm sure some of you are like "why is he posting something about Diddy". Cuz Diddy is still relevant and he's paid his hip hop dues. On top of all of that ive done a million of his parties in Atlanta. But if the dj has to change then so do the people,no more only dancing to what you like...i can go on for days,i will a lil later. for now enjoy what he has to say.

WEST COAST WEDNESDAYS
As a new contributor to the blog historyofmixtapes.com, we can not
forget an important part of the hip-hop scene.... THE WEST COAST!!!!
Me being born and raised in L.A., it wouldn't be right if the West
Coast didn't get any love on the blog. Even though, this blog is
focused on mixtapes, and the West Coast wasn't as big on mixtapes as
New York and the east coast, we had great songs and artists that were
featured on some classic mixtapes . Each Wednesday, I want to take you
back to the times when the West Coast was on top of the game, putting
out classic music and artists. When we had the industry on SMASH!!
WEST UP!!!!!
For the first video, I wanted to start it off with a joint that I know
you haven't heard in awhile. Ahmad- Back in the Day from 94' Damn, I
was in Elementary.....

50 CENT VS. RICK ROSS
I am no fan of the new internet beef, but 50 is sick for this one. Dude pulls out every single punch he possibly can,and knocks you out. I had a chance to talk to him a few years ago and he explained to me his science, you cant beat him rappers. Not at his game, and im not fronting on Rick Ross. I support his music,he helped bring Miami to a whole new level. It's just that fif is a monster at this beef game.
DJ MARS X JENNY BOOM BOOM
Just a piece of Dj Mars history, peep the interview. Big shouts to Jenny Boom Boom and Big Reg!
